Arsenal 2-1 Burnley

A game with few goals, considering there was 34 shots in total. Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette scrambled the ball home after thirteen minutes from a corner to give Arsenal the lead. On the stroke of half time, a long range effort from Burnley would deflect perfectly into the bath of talisman Ashley Barnes who grabbed his third of the season with a cool finish. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang drilled one home from the edge of the box just past the hour mark, which was the final blow in Burnley’s chance at points. Very impressive from new gunner Dani Ceballos, who assisted both Arsenal goals.

Brighton Hove Albion 1-1 West Ham United

Big money signing Leandro Trossard looked to have given Brighton the lead just before the half an hour mark, only to be robbed of his debut goal by VAR. Just past the hour mark, Javier ‘Chicarito’ Hernandez finished off a brilliant run by Manuel Lanzini, the Mexican as always clinical in front of goal. Leandro Trossard wasn’t letting VAR beat him again, and the debutant drilled one into the bottom corner from outside the box to save the Seagulls a point. Good day for the seagulls, as their big money signing Trossard looking very impressive.

Aston Villa 1-2 Bournemouth

The game got off to a very quick start, when Villa keeper Tom Heaton brought down Callum Wilson. Norwegian striker Josh King would step up and slot it into the corner from the penalty spot. Liverpool loanee would make it two for the Cherries, when his deflected effort found its way into the Villa net. Villa would get some hope from new boy Douglas Luiz’s absolute rocket into the top corner, but this would prove to be too little too late.

Everton 1-0 Watford

Everton got off to a flying start, when a long Lucas Digne ball connected with Brazilian winger Bernard, who cut inside and placed it into the bottom corner. No real chances after this, with only four shots on goal throughout the game. Watford look poor again, and seem to have still not bounced back from their FA Cup final embarrassment.

Norwich City 3-1 Newcastle United

The Finnish finisher is too good. Teemu Pukki is on fire. Three goals from the Finn down the Magpies. Pukki got his first with a powerful volley from about twelve yards out, before he would be played in behind, he would cut inside to make it two about an hour in, before he would finish the Northerners off 15 minutes from time. Todd Cantwell set up both of the second and third goals. Jonjo Shelvey would grab a consolation minutes from time. Impressive from the Norwich, Newcastle with a typical Steve Bruce performance.

Southampton 1-2 Liverpool

The travelling Scousers had to wait till the 41st minute for a goal, but Sadio Mane’s lethal cross goal finish was worth the wait. Bobby Firmino added a second after 70 minutes, dodging past tackles before sliding past Angus Gunn in the Saints’ net. The Saints were gifted a lifeline when Liverpool keeper Adrian gave former Liverpool man Danny Ings the ball six yards from goal, with an easy finish on. However, the home team couldn’t grab a second, and fall to a second defeat.

Man City 2-2 Spurs

History repeats itself. Ten minutes in Rodri had a penalty appeal turned down which can really be argued either way. Raheem Sterling finished a brilliant Kevin De Bruyne whipped ball, before Tottenhams only shot off the half, a curled effort by Erik Lamela, got past City keeper Ederson. Sergio Aguero tapped another De Bruyne ball home from close range, to make it 2-1 at the half. Lucas Moura was introduced in the 56th minute, and also made it 2-2 in the 56th minute. City pressured the Londoners for the rest of the game, but it took until added time for City to score, with Gabriel Jesus scoring from a corner, only for it to be ruled out by VAR for handball by Aymeric Laporte. Disappointing draw for City, a point Spurs will happily take.

Sheffield United 1-0 Crystal Palace

In a game with very few chances, it took until two minutes into the second half for a goal, with John Lundstram finishing a easy chance after a save from a Luke Freeman shot. The Eagles put pressure on for the rest of the game, but were unable to find a breakthrough. Great start to the season for the Blades.

Chelsea 1-1 Leicester City

Chelsea youngster Mason Mount got the Londoners going seven minutes in, after nicking the ball of Wilfried Ndidi on the edge of the box and proving the doubters wrong by slotting away calmly. However, Ndidi would make up for this, as a James Maddison corner came into the box he leapt head and shoulders above everyone and powered a header past Kepa. Both teams would get chances after this, but neither team could finish one in the remaining half an hour.

Wolves 1-1 Man United

Man United struggled at the Molineux last season, and they looked to change that coming into the midlands today. Judging on the first half, this would change, as United dominated the ball, but struggled to create real chances. But when Marcus Rashford set up Anthony Martial, the Frenchman had no problem smashing it past Rui Patricio. Wolves were poor in the first half, and could be considered lucky to be only down by one. At the start of the second half, Spanish speedster Adama Traore was introduced for Matt Doherty, and the Spaniard would cause trouble for the United defence for the remaining half, with Luke Shaw seemingly incapable of stopping his runs. Wolves came close to equalising when a Raul Jimenez header flicked off the post, somehow staying out. The United lead wouldn’t last for long though, when Ruben Neves collected the ball on the edge of the box from a corner, he took two touches, then with the third unleashed an unstoppable shot, which David de Gea should be very proud of even getting a fingertip too. About ten minutes later, Pogba and Rashford played a nice one-two, Pogba was taken down in the box by Wolves’ skipper Connor Coady. Rashford let Pogba take the penalty he won. Pogba stepped up, and struck it hard and left. But he only hit it into the out stretched palms of Rui Patricio, who made a brilliant save.

No real chances in the remaining twenty minutes, with both teams deserving a point.
