Georgetown. Illinois. Wake Forest. Just some of the suitors offering Terrence Shannon Jr a spot on their roster. Currently in his senior year at the prestigious IMG Academy alongside fellow top recruit Josh Green (Arizona commit).

Last month, I was lucky enough to catch up with Terrence in an interview.

Something he’s most well know for is his athleticism and powerful moves to the bucket. In terms of players he’d compare his play style to the most – for those of you who may not have seen Terrence play before – he compared it to “Giannis or Russell Westbrook”.

You can see the comparisons in his game. As a High School senior he’s a 6’6” wing who has good length and has the speed to blow by most guards. In terms of what he wishes to improve on when he makes the jump to the D1 level, he said

“I want to develop my handling and getting more crafty with the ball and creating my own shot”. He’s clearly got the raw athletic tools to make it at the highest level, but polishing his offensive tools seemed to be what Terrence intended on improving on going to the collegian level.

When talking about what he was taking into consideration when visiting colleges to play ball at, he made clear that the “relationship with coach” was an important factor. He also stated that the style of play was a significant part in his decision, and you can imagine that any team which plays at a high tempo would suit Terrence.

Reflecting on his best moment in his career, he highlighted a “45 point game where I hit the game winner in my regional championship game”.

The final quote I will leave you with sums up his ambition and drive;

“I plan to thrive in the NBA”
